For implementation of the imperative for high-quality economic development in the urban area, there is a continuous effort to refine the development environment for technology enterprises in Haidian District, with creating the specialized service for regional enterprises, and effectively addressing practical challenges. On November 16th, Origin of Innovation-Malianwa Industrial Collaborative Development Union was established, marking its inaugural board of directors meeting. Cheng Peiheng, Member of the Haidian District Committee, and Wang Shuyan, Secretary of the Malianwa Street Party Working Committee, were present. Nearly a hundred representatives from prominent companies and science and technology organizations in the district, including Sina, Lenovo, Software Park Company, Baidu, Tencent, Innovation Training Institute of China Agricultural University, and Zhongguancun Federation of Social Organizations attended the meeting. The session was presided over by Guo Xishan, the Director of the Sub-District Office.

To begin, Zhong Yun, Deputy Director of the Sub-District Office, provided an overview of the background and preparation of Origin of Innovation-Malianwa Industrial Collaborative Development Union. The union comprises park areas, key enterprises, research units, and organizations outside the jurisdiction. These entities play a guiding, supporting, and guaranteeing role in the development of the Malianwa industry. The union pools resources from political, industrial, academic, research, and financial spheres. It focuses on optimizing and enhancing the industrial development space in the park, aggregating characteristics of ecological industries, connecting with market demands, and gathering support resources. The union aims to leverage the roles of the innovation platform, industrial link, and service guarantee entity to stimulate the vitality of innovation subjects and serve the high-quality development of the region. The union operates under the board of directors, with the initial 7 recommended president units and 40 director units, including listed companies, unicorn enterprises, specialized and new “little giant” firms, and key research institutions within the jurisdiction. Zhongguancun Social Organizations Federation serves as the secretariat of the union.

Subsequently, the entire assembly unanimously approved the charter of the union, the list of Director candidates for the council, and the list of candidates for Rotating Presidents, Joint Presidents, and Secretary-General. The establishment ceremony for the union was conducted, with the confirmation on the first Rotating President, Joint President, and Secretary-General. Dai Jian, the Executive Vice-President and Secretary-General of Zhongguancun Federation of Social Organizations, as the head of the secretariat, accepted the certificate on behalf of the organization.

Following this, the union secretariat signed on-site agreements with five organizations, to collectively support the development of enterprises within the jurisdiction.

The meeting highlighted the release of the union’s brand activity plan, featuring “Malianwa x Sina KOL Innovation Tour,” the 2023 “Malian Cup” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the collection of enterprises for the “Malianwa Technology Life Industry Service Guide.” The three brand activities will span throughout 2024. 

During the speech segment, Xie Wei, the secretary-general of the union, presented the union’s work plan. Deng Yanrong, the Assistant General Manager of Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park Development Co., Ltd., Zhang Haitao, the Dean of Innovation Training Institute of China Agricultural University, and Dong Zhengqi, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, spoke on behalf of the president and director representatives, expressing their expectations for the union’s work. Wang Wei, the Rotating President of the union, reported on the work focus of the first Board of Directors meeting, emphasizing the importance of establishing a communication mechanism for members, organizing regular technical exchange and training activities, and promoting the complementary advantages of regional enterprises. He hoped to work hand in hand with all member units to jointly create a bright future for the coordinated development of industries in the Malianwa area.

In his speech, Wang Shuyan, Secretary of the Malianwa Street Party Working Committee, stated that Malianwa Street would support the secretariat of the union in carrying out the work of connecting high-quality resources, providing professional services, and closely contacting enterprises. Support for the union’s operation will be provided from different perspectives. Wang hoped that the union will fully play the role of a collaborative promotion mechanism, with the focus on innovation, creating service brands, promoting the transition of innovative entities in the jurisdiction from “individual operations” to “cluster breakthroughs”. It will build a collaborative development pattern.

Finally, Cheng Peiheng delivered an important speech. He stated that the establishment of the union is a powerful measure to implement the deployment of the district committee and government in serving economic development. He hoped that the establishment of the union will strengthen mechanism innovation,  further improve the professional level of serving enterprises, create a safe and stable social environment for the rapid development of enterprises, and make new and greater contributions to promoting the high-quality development of the region.
